In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by a massive 25%, according to a scientific brief released by the World Health Organization. To this troublesome situation, we added political and racial tensions, social unrest, and, most recently, a war in Eastern Europe that people are afraid may ignite World War III.
In light of this, it should come as no surprise that according to another recent stat, 19.86% of adults in the United States are experiencing some form of mental illness. That’s nearly 50 million Americans, and the same report tells us that 4.91% are experiencing a severe mental illness. I’m sure these numbers aren’t only a reflection of the situation in America.
It’s no surprise that ERG leaders, who seem to be on the cusp of knowing and addressing their member’s most pressing needs, have been leading the way in addressing these challenges.
In this episode of ERG PowerTalk, my guest Vivian Acquah and I explore various ways your ERGs can help create an inclusive and healthy environment that supports your entire workforce from now into the next century.
